FAQ
Do you have a recycle program?
We sure do and we highly encourage you to take advantage of this program! We will reward you for bringing your used candle jars back to us. Each returned jar and lid earns you a $1.00 credit on your next candle purchase. When returning your jars they must be in very good condition. Since we use a luxury soy wax, they can be easily cleaned out if you wish to do that yourself (see below for instructions) which will allow us to reuse them for the next batch of our candles. We consider it our way of helping the planet one jar at a time!
Can my empty jar be reused?
Yes, it absolutely can be and we encourage and truly hope you do! Here are some suggestions but there certainly are plenty of more ways.
- On your office desk for pens, pencils, etc.
- In the bathroom as a toothbrush and toothpaste holder
- Add a small amount of rocks and then plant a flower or herbs
- Use for Q-Tips or cotton balls/pads
- Storage for bobby pins or elastics
- Screws or nails
- Drinking glass (depending on which glass you have)
How do I remove the remain wax and wick?
There are several ways to remove the leftover wax, wick and clip. Once the wax is solidified we use a soft utensil to dig out the remaining wax in the vessel. You will find because of the soy wax we use it is very soft and fairly easy to do. We pull the wooden wick out and then place the tip of a butter knife into the metal wick clip. Carefully twist and turn it, you may need to put a little elbow grease into it as it is placed there using a sticker to prevent movement. Once you have remove everything in the jar simply wash with warm water and soap and viola, there's your clean jar to re-use however you'd like!
I would like to know more about the wooden wicks.
Absolutely! We chose these wicks specifically for several reasons. Of course for the esthetics and delightful crackling sound they give off. They are organic, non-toxic and eco-friendly sourced from FSC-certified mills and are made within North America.
What is the best way to care for my candle?
ALWAYS trim your wooden wick to 1/4 to 1/8" before each time you light your candle. Personally, we like ours to be 1/8". This makes all the difference in the longevity and clean burning of your candle. A longer wick burns much hotter and will burn your candle way too quick and create soot. Use one of our wick trimmers or use a set of nail clippers to get that close cut you desire.
Can I customize my label?
This is going to be an option coming in the very near future where you'll be able to selection that option on our website.
What are scent notes?
A candle has three types of notes: a top note, middle note and a base note. As you can probably guess the top note is the aroma you get when you first burn your candle. The middle notes also known as the heart notes are enjoyed after the top notes begin to fade. Then of course we have the base note, which reveals itself as the candle is lit and burning at a full melt pool (this occurs when the top layer of the candle is completely melted).
